Years later and the ending to Gurren Lagann still manages to royally piss me off. After all the crap Simon went through to rescue Nia only to lose her immediately afterwards was nothing short of a huge middle finger right in the face of the audience. I'm surprised the writer wasn't lynched in the street afterwards.
