Hiroyuki Imashi (今石 洋之, born October 4, 1971) is the director, episode director and one of the key animators of Gurren Lagann. He is one of the co-founders of Studio Trigger and his style of animation is notable for being very frantic, fast and in your face.
Background
Imaishi began working at Gainax in 1995 as a key animator on Neon Genesis Evangelion. His debut was the film Dead Leaves (2004) and his debut series was Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (2007). Since then, he has created, directed and animated such anime as Panty & Stocking With Gardetfelt (2010) , Kill La Kill (2013) & Promare (2019) In 2011, a year after creating and releasing Panty & Stocking With Gardefelt, he went on to create Studio Trigger together with Masahiko Otsuka.
