Antispiral (アンチスパイラル, Anchisupairaru^?, is both the leader of and the physical manifestation of the Anti-Spiral consciousness after they sealed themselves away to purge their race of Spiral Power. Their highly advanced technology gives them godlike powers, which when used appears as red energy. With these abilities, they are able to manipulate the laws of physics and quantum mechanics (going as far as altering probability), which they wield regularly both offensively and as a form of intimidation. Antispiral is the arch-enemy of Lordgenome, being responsible for Lordgenome's madness after explaining the nature of the Spiral Nemesis to him.) It serves as the main antagonist of the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann series.

Personality

Little is known of Antispiral's personally. Due to the fact that they summarize the more basic traits of their race, their mannerisms are that of a scientist: they are very intelligent, since their race created the reality-bending Anti-Spiral technology, and they also are incredibly foresighted, having theorized the Spiral Nemesis long before the idea had approached any other species. Despite having cast away Spiral Power long ago, they still retain the unshakable will that defines the most powerful Spiral beings, as they always stood firm in their millennia-long battle against the Spiral beings right up until their demise, and never displayed any sign of self-doubt, even when Team Dai-Gurren managed to break free of their near-inescapable traps.

However, Antispiral's absolute refusal of defeat is notably different from that of the other Spiral Warriors (or at least Simon's), as their strong will is only derived from their own excessive hubris and bias towards other Spiral beings, as well as their apparent lack of faith in their ability to take the responsibility to restrain their power for the better of the universe as his people did. In other words, while powerful Spiral beings like Simon and Kamina derived their power from belief in themselves and each other, Antispiral did so from their total disbelief in all people like them.

Their pride leads them to hold deep contempt for all Spiral beings as well as their frustration at the Spirals' stubbornness similar to their own, paired with their unique blindness to the Spiral Nemesis and their ensuing defiance of their race and their ideology. Antispiral usually directs their hatred at Simon, since he could be considered the most powerful of all the Spiral Warriors, and therefore the one who embodies everything they stand against.

Their own immense power rivaling that of Spiral Power and unwavering opposition towards it makes Antispiral worthy of their title, as they are the quintessential opposite of all that is akin to the Spiral.

Anti-Spiral War Arc

Antispiral trap Team Dai-Gurren in the Multiverse Labyrinth.

Antispiral sealed Team Dai-Gurren away in the Multiverse Labyrinth after they escaped the Death Spiral Field. While Team Dai-Gurren was trapped, Antispiral was probing Nia for answers for her betrayal.

Antispiral defeated by Simon.

Gurren Lagann appeared and rescued Nia as she was resisting Antispiral. To counteract the newly-created Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Antispiral created the Granzeboma. After the battle, Antispiral was defeated, destroying it and the entire Anti-Spiral race.

Powers and Abilities

Overall Abilities: Despite its rather brief appearance, the Anti-Spiral continuously showcased itself to be the second most powerful character in the Gurren Lagann Multiverse, once being the most powerful being before Simon before becoming his greatest rival. The Anti-Spiral possessed immeasurably advanced technology, to the point that they could manipulate the very aspects of the Universe and bend them to their will. Examples include creating a parallel multiverse-sized dimension on a microscopic scale, to the point that it could be contained inside a tiny ring. Effortlessly overpowering and defeating Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and every other form of the titular mecha, defeating Lordgenome and the entire Spiral Army, easily defeating an enhanced Boota, and fighting on par with Simon who is the most powerful character seen thus far.

Advanced Technopathy: The Anti-Spiral’s main abilities came from their mindbendingly advanced technology, which granted them godlike capabilities. They could use their various Mechas such as the Mugann, Ashtanga, and the unstoppable Granzeboma to annihilate stronger opponents, or dispatch them with molecular annihilation beams, spiral-based weaponry, and more.

• Reality Manipulation: The advanced technology it possessed allowed the Anti-Spiral almost complete control over reality and existence within it’s own micro-verse as well as partial control of the main Universe. The ability allowed the Anti-Spiral to create entire multiversal constructs, immensely powerful black-hole like machines that convert Spiral Power into superdense space, and create matter and energy from nothing simply by willing it.
• Space-time Manipulation/Probability Alteration: The tech allowed the Anti-Spiral complete dominance over space-time, ripping holes inside dimensions and traveling across vast distances instantaneously via teleportation. Usage of quantum physics also allowed them to create enormous structures when used with their other abilities. They could also alter probability in order to bypass even the most unbreakable defenses, including those immune to all conventional and outerversal attacks.
• Energy Manipulation/Anti-Spiral power: While the Anti-Spiral had abandoned the use of Spiral Power in fear of its consequences on reality and existence, they instead used the nigh-infinite amount of highly destructive, immensely powerful and versatile energy. They could expel the energy through their fingers or Mecha in order to create powerful beams that annihilate organisms on a molecular level or use the energy to form gargantuan Mecha and Drill-shaped lances that could contend with and overpower the titular Mecha of the franchise. They could also use this energy to manipulate other existing sources, such as crushing two Universes to form an attack on par with the creation of all existence or forming an equally gigantic Mecha in response to the Super Galaxy Dai-Gurren teams’ Super Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Also, due to their nature and goal of suppressing spiral power, their energy was powered by negative emotions and Despair, rather than the Willpower and belief of Spiral Power and similar to Lordgenomes’ abilities.

Immeasurable Physical Capabilities: Even without the Granzeboma and thanks to the enormous amount of power they possessed, the Anti-Spiral had incalculable physical power, enough to efforlessly defeat Lordgenome in single combat and fight on par with Simon, with both unleashing catastrophic, reality-breaking blows on one another. Upon using the Granzeboma, the Anti-Spiral could dominate the TTGL in combat with its strength, easily throw Universes as makeshift throwing weapons, and crush two of them together with it’s second pair of arms. After stepping into its final form, the Super Granzeboma was strong enough to match STTGL in combat, with the collision of their drills causing the very Spiral Nemesis inside of the parallel multiverse. Upon using the Anti-Spiral Giga Drill Break, they could overpower every single form of Gurren Lagann using their signature attack, with their initial clash causing the entire Multiverse to collapse and fold in on them, with neither being phased at the catastrophic amount of destruction and energy being released. Their speed allowed them to cross quintillions of light years in mere moments, teleporting to various points in the Multiverse with ease. While in their personalized mecha, the Anti-Spiral could cross entire universe-sized distances with a single step, partially due to it’s sheer size. However, while in the Super Granzeboma, they could effortlessly cross the distance of an entire multiverse in seconds, with the time before their clash with the STTGL measuring 3.4 seconds. Their durability was absolutely immense, allowing them to render any and all attacks not used with sufficient spiral power useless, such as Boota’s energy attacks and the various Giga Drill Breaks of the Gurren Lagann forms. They could effortlessly take on TTGL’s drills, punches, sniper shots, various blasts, and even being thrown around with incredible force. Eventually, the only thing that could truly draw blood from the Anti-Spiral were Simon’s destructive physical blows, with his final blood drill blowing a massive hole through its body.

Super-Genius Intellect: Being the collective conscious of a race of incredibly advanced and intelligent beings, as well as living for an extremely long period of time, the Anti-Spiral is extremely intelligent. It was capable of single-handedly designing the Mugann, Ashtanga, Death Spiral Machine, The Multiversal Labyrinth, Gunmen, and even an entire parallel multiverse hidden inside of a gem. They are capable of managing and creating several extinction devices on billions of planets with Spiral Races, designing specific ways of destruction to keep Spirals at bay. They were capable of secretly manipulating the order of events throughout the story, as well as organizing their fleet and strategically breaking Lordgenome’s psyche in order to defeat Humanity. They were also skilled enough to outclass the entire Dai-Gurren brigade in combat.
